Inside the Buderim Residence – Where Modern Mexican Architecture Meets Queensland Lifestyle
At Morrison Studios, we thrive on creating spaces that are not just visually striking but also deeply connected to the people who inhabit them. Our latest project in Buderim is a true testament to this philosophy, blending bold design with a grounded, earthy feel. Completed in June 2024, this 18-month transformation turned the main spaces of this Sunshine Coast home into a vibrant, dynamic, and welcoming sanctuary.
A Vision Unfolds
From the moment we stepped into the Buderim Residence, we were captivated by its potential. The home’s grand open spaces and striking architectural features begged for a design that would both honour and elevate their boldness. We embraced this challenge, introducing elements as dynamic as they are comforting.
Embracing Bold and Beautiful
Our client’s love for modern Mexican architecture set the tone for the project. We wanted to bring those fun, vibrant vibes through in subtle and bold ways. From the art selection in the main living areas to the rich textures throughout, every choice was made to reflect this playful yet grounded aesthetic. Muted greens served as the canvas for an array of textures—leather, velvet, timber, handmade tiles, and bouclé fabrics—each adding layers of warmth and interest to the space.
Curves and Comfort
The curves integrated into the design add a softness that balances the grandness of the large open spaces, creating a sense of flow and cohesion throughout the home. These gentle lines, combined with the earthy tones and rich textures, infuse the space with a grounded, natural feel that’s both luxurious and inviting.
Custom Creations
A standout feature of the Buderim Residence is the custom-designed beds, each uniquely crafted by Create Estate. These pieces are more than just functional—they are a statement of comfort and style, perfectly tailored to the space and enhancing the overall design narrative.
Outside, we continued this bespoke approach with a custom-rendered dining table featuring an inset stone centrepiece by Brad from Txture Co, complemented by a rendered bench seat and cushions from NorthCoast Upholstery.
Inside, custom art pieces by Mlak brought in the bold Mexican tones that our client loves, adding an energetic pop to the living spaces.
Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Living
One of the most striking features of this project is the seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces. The materials used for the indoor fireplace continue through to the outdoor dining and bar area, creating a unified, expansive space that feels like one large indoor-outdoor room. This design celebrates the Queensland lifestyle, where outdoor living is an integral part of everyday life.
The Buderim Residence is where modern Mexican architecture meets Queensland lifestyle—a home that’s as bold as it is beautiful, as dynamic as it is grounded. With its blend of textures, custom creations, and vibrant yet earthy tones, this space truly reflects our client’s unique style and passions.
